The water heater is fairly new so that should be ok. Thanks for all the ideas and will try the CLR.

Whoa, if the water heater is new so is the anode.
Worth checking into.
BTW, bottled water mostly comes from wells. (many here in Michigan)
A spring in fact would be very contaminated.
