A couple years ago, the bulb burned out, so I replaced it. But, it hasn't worked right since. I replaced the light sensor, but that hasn't helped. I know the bulb and sensor work because, after an extremely hot day, the light will come on--as it should--at sunset, and turn off again in the morning. (but only when the temperature has gotten above 90 or so that day! )
I suppose the simple answer is just to replace the light. But I'd rather not, if I don't have to.
Could be the ballast (or ignitor if it's HPS). The fact that it comes on during hot temperatures is weird, though. Does it cycle (turn itself on and off) or does it just not come on some days?
Thanks for the replies, everyone. It looks like I'll just have to replace it.

Most of the time, it doesn't come on at all. (it rarely gets that hot) But, when it does get hot, it operates just like it should.

I was just hoping that, since I already bought a new bulb and sensor, it would be an easy fix.
We have some of these. They are cheapo lights and poorly made. We found that the reflection of the light when it comes on tends to trigger the sensor so it goes right back off. THe solution was to put black tape ofver the sensor and control the On/off with a light switch. For the other light fixture, the solution was to replace it, replace it again, and then buy something different.
By the way, I assume that you are aware that sodium lights change color perception and also should not be used where you are operating machinery or power tools?
I have a security light out at my driveway that was hooked up and the lines ran underground. Some nights it comes on at dusk but most of the time it doesn't come on at all. Like it will come on one night but the next few nights or even weeks it won't come on at all. Any advice would b greatly appreciated. ..

The photo-cell is probably about shot. Replacing it will "probably" fix the problem. The only way to know for sure would be to have an electrician take a look at it.
