I could just cry. The neighbor next door has chosen a zig zag pattern for his addition. We're talking big zig zags that zig zag in around 7 to 10 feet PLUS an overhang that is about two feet from the wall with two big doors looking right into one of my bedrooms. Why he decided to put a patio right there is a mystery to me.

Anyway, I have visions of NEVER being able to sell this house as who is going to want to live next door to some freak who can't build a straight wall? All I can do is plant something. Is it possible to hire someone to come out and get their advice as to the best things to plant to block as much of this as possible? I wonder how much they charge. I don't feel like I can do it myself and I want something that will grow fast and bushy and tall and not too much over the fence. This may mean taking out three mature oleanders to get the job done.

Anyway, would you buy a house next to a zig zag one? I read in the local newpaper that because the lots are large in this neighborhood people come in and build extra stuff on them and the neighbors hate it. I drove by one of them mentioned in the paper today and it looks like a friggin prison house, but at least the walls are straight.

I know there is not a damn thing I can do about it. All I want to know is if you'd buy a house next door to a zig zag house with the zig zag very close to the fence.

A house like this?

I wouldn't buy a house next to that one - I'd buy the zig zag house!

If this is a zig zag house, I would want it over a box/rectangle house on any given day! How interesting!

Then again, I am not personally very traditional.....

Yes I would buy into a neighborhood with a house like that...In-fact if I ever had to move into such setting I want houses that all look different, major reason I hate subdivisions, cookie cutters! I want a house that's not going to look like the guys next store or down the block for that matter! I want unique one of a kind! .....But I live on the top of a Mt in the middle of 20 forest acres .......

I sold a house that was 30 feet from a freeway. Rest assured, people will buy anything.

Look at it this way, at least your street will not be accused of being "nothing but cookie cutter".

The zig zag house looks pretty cool, but a zig zag addition on a house is harder to say. We really do need a picture I think.
