Would agree on regional. Gas is more widely used as a heat source in colder regions. This may be the reason.

The new gas stove is Teddy approved.

Actually, I am really enjoying having a gas stove again. And it's so shiny clean!

Not sure where you live, but I haven't seen an electric stove in many years. The only time people use electric stoves or electric dryers is when no gas is available. In Calif, you couldn't give an electric dryer away...!
Curious, Norfolk, Neb...? Fun town

Well from my preference I dont like gas because gas has a tendancy to leak and house goes kaboom . I think in the colder climates gas is more readily available however when I lived in the south electric was more the norm . Im moving back to the south soon and all I see in the apts and houses for sale are electric .

I'm in Norfolk, Virginia. Here in Norfolk, we take "kabooming" very seriously.

I live in the "South" and see that most people have a gas house heater and gas water heater, so the gas line is already there.

Interesting!
But not true...

I have lived in the Northeast all my life.
And all the homes I grew up in, all my rentals as a single gal, and my apartment and two houses as a married gal - ALL have been electric.

Even with gas heat and/or water heater!

They're definitely around. The thing is, electricity is NOT cheap in some areas; natural gas is very much preferred for the heating and cooking.

Nah, the scrappers would take them.

Heck, I've even paid $5 for one once. I needed a motor, and it was the cheapest source for it.

Its probably thatt many places don't have natural gas as sated really. That siad I like elctric witht eh new ones.Ceaner buring;safer tha any gas appliocance;burns hotter unless you have a real gas commercial ;not the consumer ones and oven is much more even heat.Once I'd convert I;d never go back to gas personally.

I prefer gas. My very first house had an electric stove and I didn't even think twice about it. I hated it after I started cooking more at home. My requirement after that is any house we bought had to have a gas line. I actually didn't have a problem with it as all the houses we looked at had gas stoves. When we relocated out of state and looked at new construction all of them had electric smooth top ranges. I was really disappointed. My husband offered to install a line for me but that meant getting rid of a brand new range. We then found a house that had gas. When it was time to replace the stove that came with the house (it was old) I noticed the local stores carried twice as many electric ranges as they did gas. I asked the sales guy about it and he said that it was just preferred in our area. I think the reason newer construction have more electric ranges is simply because of cost. Adding a gas line is extra and some don't want to pay it. Lucky for us, the previous owners of this house paid the builder extra for the gas line as well as one for an outside BQ.
