i do but piramiarily because i have very sensitive skin and allergies and who knows what they were exposed to at the packing plant, there not folded/packed in a sterile environment so theres no guarentees so i just ike to take the extra precuation, not to mention i throw in my own detergent which i love the smell of and the sheets dont have the "ive been stored in pastic" odor anymore
honestly though, im lazy enough that if it wernt for the allergies i probaby wouldnt bother :P
I just bought sheets this past week, and yes, I wash them, any type of fabric, linen or anything that adventually gets washed, I always wash first, using fabric softner.
my sheets were wonderful last night........too bad i am ot in them right about now.
I couldnt buy sheets and just put them on the bed, just couldnt do it.
I wash any garment I buy before I wear it, same with sheets and towels. Who knows what kinds of dyes and processes used that may have residue on the fabric. Do you really want your skin touching that?

You're wasting water, detergent, power, and time washing your sheets.
Besides, your detergent is made up of all sorts of chemicals (not all of which get rinsed out). Do you really want your skin touching that?

Absolutely not true. First of all there are natural laundry detergents available - lots of them. Most sheets and clothing are finished with chemical sprays or dips to make them look (and sometimes smell) better, less wrinkled, crisp and new (including sheets). Clothing and sheets will often shed dye residue in the first washing.
Besides do you really know under what conditions those sheets were made and packaged? Where do the sheets you buy come from? The United States or ?? Who touched them before you sleep on them?
You should always wash anything that you buy that is going next to your skin.
