I cleaned a neighbor's range hood.

Noted that each square grease filter's little pawl, whicholds it up into place, is apparently made of cheap pot metal and the pawl is only about 1-mm thick.

"Becareful that you do not break a fragile pawl off. Why they are so thin is beyond my understanding."

One day she broke it.

Whirlfool demands $95.10 to replace the 10x11-5/8-inch metal filter.

I inserted a little "L"-shaped allen tool into the metal grease screen and protruding out where the pawl was before.

Works well.

How obscene charging so much for a 10x11 "grease screen".
I shall never buy another Whirlfool product.
