Today I noticed at around 5:00 AM that the water pressure was low. I went outside and turn the main valve off and then turned it back on again. It was running slow.

The only thing I changed was that I added the water softner pellets in my water software container. I went outside and shaked and kicked the water software pellet container. I believe at that point (I think) the water started flowing with normal pressure again.

Can anyone explain how?

You just experienced the "kick the appliance to make it work" trick that all us guys know. It doesn't have to make sense, it just works. Sometimes swearing or yelling helps.

Maybe the melting pellets could have created a "bridge" that you broke? Dunno.

Yeah I am puzzled too! When I filled the pellets this week there were no pellets in the brine tank. There was only water in the tank. I filled the pellets (solar pellets) and thats it. I live in Houston so it is very very humid but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Also, how can I tell if the water softener is actually working. Some people say your skin will feel moist or something but I dont know.

The brine solution in the salt tank is just used to flush the resin bed in the softener on a pre-set schedule - it's not otherwise involved in the regular operation/flow of the softener.

There isn't a whole lot to go wrong in a softener. If you have an outside water tap that isn't within the softener circuit, just try to lather soap in that water and the softened water. You'll see a difference.

Maybe it was just the water company working on a line in the area and it happen to be a coincidence that it came on when it did.

@nitram

You might be correct! That is the only logical reason I can find!
