Looking to buy some towels for our family, and I wonder what should I go for. 100% cotton, of course, but which brand, and who carries them? I see Macy's has some pretty good sales, so I can go online and order them, however, I thought I should check here first to see if there is any good advice anyone can give...

Thanks!

I am still on the quest for good towels so let me know when you find them. I bought a ton of towels from JcPenney when we moved into our house. I should have only bought a couple to try them out. Ugh. The color starting coming out of them. I thought I had got bleach on them that is how bad they got. I had better luck with the cheap towels I bought at Walmart as far as color retention goes but they were too thin.

I have been buying my towels in Kohl's for the last few years. They are their brand and called "the Big Ones". Have had them about 3 years and still like new with no fading. I use to buy some in Penney's but don't remember which ones but most of the designer ones there are terrible.

I bought my share of towels and my favorites are from the Home Goods/Marshall store. They're affordable and really good quality. I've never paid more than $8 for a great quality, usually designer, bath towel.

May I ask why you say "100% cotton, of course"? Bamboo towels (and bamboo sheets) are so much softer and feel so much more luxurious. They are also more naturally antibacterial, antifungal and odor resistant. Bamboo also requires less dye than cotton to produce more vivid colors. I bought bamboo towels and sheets about five years ago and would never want to go back to cotton again.

I have honestly had the best luck with towels from Target. I had some "expensive" ones from Macy's lasted a little over a year, JC Penney didn't even make it a year. I do have some from Land's End that are very good as well.

Where do you buy bamboo towels? And how expensive are they? Forgive my ignorance.

I LOVE Home Goods/Marshall. That's where I bought my last ones, and they do last. However, for some reason they don't seem to absorb water as well. I don't know what the issue is with any of the towels I've been buying. I tried Target, Walmart, Home Goods/Marshall, Macy's... I want some towels that absorb the water and leave me pretty dry after a bath/shower... I'll look into Lands End and bamboo...

Thank you, all!
