INcluding our grader who abandoned us to go work on that house.

However my thought is they they could have built or purchased an absolutely wonderful home for $1 million and then spend $29 million employing even more workers to build/rehab 300 houses for people without the means.

But then the poor dog woudl probably be relegated to a spot ont he kitchen floor. Poor thing. How could I be so cold.

And here is a scenario which I know is happening over and over and which I think is where houses of this size will end up....a coworker of mine has a sister and about 6 years ago they built a 13,000 square foot home. The husbands job started to sour and while he was still working, he was no longer bringing in the large amounts of cash so they decided to sell their house for 2.1 million. Well, they couldn't sell it so after about a year they stopped paying the mortgage. They have been living there for "free". They need to be out next month, but not a big deal because the husband already has a new job in Hawaii and a house rented on the beach and the family will be joining him there at the end of October. Fantastic isn't it?? And now, there sits empty a 13,000 square foot house because a family of 4 had to have all that space. And who ultimately pays the price when the bank can't sell it?

I'm surprised the tax on this monstrosity of a mansion is only 100k...

Maybe thats why he went so big - because of the low taxes :-)

The odd thing for me is that they built this huge house on a major 4 lane route. Its set back a little from the road, but you can still see it and I imagine some of the noise of trucks, etc must make it into the house. Just seems like an odd location for such a large home.

I found a few more pics. I can't say that I find the architecture tacky though - even if the size of it is nuts!

Looks like one needs some sort of transportation to go from one end of the house to another...
Beautiful house, though.
