Our kitchen sink had a leak and we didn't know until we felt a hump in the floor by the cabinet.
We fixed the leak. Now what about the hump? It's about 6" (2 slats) and 2' feet in length.
It's hickory. About 7 years old.
Heartbroken. Beautiful floors.

Until you remove the damaged boards you won't know the full extent of the damage.
Best course of action- call a flooring company.

Do you have any extra flooring from when it was installed? Was it a prefinished floor?
As KB said above, it may end up being more than two boards that need to be replaced, but it's not that big of a project for a flooring contractor or an experienced handyman.

I think I might have extra wood in the utility room. I'll check. Thanks for saying it might not be a huge job. Thats a relief.

I just talked to my SIL that's had this happen at two of her homes. She said that both times after about 3 months it went down and back to normal.
?
If so... That would be great.

Yes, just wait and see....they usually shrink back into place and most times might need a belt sander and refinishing. Hopefully it goes this way for you.

We've got some minor water damage to our hardwoods from a clogged AC drain line. It looks bad at first, but if you give it a few weeks to really finish drying out, 80%+ of the damage seems to reverse itself.
