I will be moving to a small saltbox style house that sits on the back third of its lot, but want to fence the whole space so my dogs can play. Behind the house there is a bit of aluminum ornamental fencing around a patio, but that is all there is. The land is about 1 acre. Would it look better to have post and rail lined with wire? rustic split rail? picket? There is no HOA. The house is on a street that leads to a development so would have commuter traffic twice a day and I would not feel comfortable with just an 'invisible' fence. Any ideas or preferences?

Sounds like a picket fence along the front then rail and wire for the rest of the yard. If cost is no object, put picket fence all around. If the dogs are not aggresive towards pedestrians the picket fence will do and will look the style of the house. If aggresive, then maybe wire along the picket also to protect the fence and pedestrians.

How about that decorative wire fence that comes in rolls. You see it around old farm houses. It has loops on the top. I can think of the name right now.
