Do you have to buy detergent, etc?

I spoke with a friend who had to pay $50 just for her one room which was about 14x14. Seems a little high for one room.

I've only got one room to clean.

Thanks.
We did this until we finally bought our own machine. One thing I want to recommend, is not to use detergent. Just use water. Most carpets are nylon or another synthetic. The detergent will just not come out of your carpet, and your carpet will get dirtier faster. I convinced my DH to only use hot water, and he was convinced. You will get your carpet cleaner, faster.

However, cleaning this way can saturate the subfloor. The water gets into the carpet, the backing and it just sits there. So, don't do the clean often. And make sure to get as much of the water out as you can. And don't keep going over one area with the water.

I use ours regularly, and so we bought our own. It was only $150 and given how much I use it, well worth the cost to own our own.
