We have a tempur-pedic mattress, couple years old, very clean, in good condition.
We have it covered with a thick mattress pad. We are wondering if it's also necessary to purchase a zippered mattress encasement which would keep out dust mites and bed bugs. As I said, the mattress is not new and we don't have bed bugs but I've been reading about these encasements and wondering if it would be a good idea to get one. I thinking that it may be useful for preventing the mattress from collecting future dust mites, just not sure since it's not new. Both my husband and I are sensitive to dust but I think I read some where that these encasements really don't make a huge difference with allergies. Comments from anyone with some knowledge on this topic is appreciated. wl
