Probably a dumb question, but better to ask than to be sorry, right? After 50+ years of vinyl floors in our master bathroom, we finally had a nice quality ceramic tile installed. Now I need to get some new small rugs to put in front of the sink, toilet, etc. Can I buy inexpensive rugs at Costco or Target, or do I have to be worried about cheap rubber matting damaging my new tile?

Get want you want.
The backing interacts with vinyl, not ceramic.

As you look the tile is a glazed ceramic or porcelain or even SEALED stone there is no real fear that any kind of backing will cause damage / discoloration.

Make sure the grout is sealed too.

Default Congrats

Your floors sound wonderful.. smooth and easy cleaning.
(Hope you have the grout sealed, so the moisture doesn't
eventually discolor it)..
That said..

The little rugs are just fine.. but if you have the least bit
of concern, then get something cotton and reversible.

Enjoy! (In the tiling business for 7 years)
