And bugs like living wood too. The only way around this si to build a house made of aluminum cans and mortar, and use solar heating.

Another "Chicken Little" story. Run, run the sky is falling; there are bugs in wood... No kidding Sherlock. I wonder how long the writer of that article worked on it... my guess is that his deadline was due in 10 minutes and he had NOTHING until he went to toss another log on the fire and saw an ant. 3 minutes later, after a quick Google, he was submitting the journalist masterpiece.

"untreated firewood" What? I am not about to burn firewood treated with insecticides. I woudl rather burn the insects than wood treated with poison. I suspect this author works for somene who is trying to market "treated firewood" A dumb idea that will make someone rich if it catches on for a while. Lots of dumb ides make people rich until society finally realizes it is a dumb idea.

I believe it. Bought some wood from Big Orange.... had termite larvae in it. That sucked. I tossed it. It was after the season and too warm to burn it.

Yes out in the real woods there are real trees and these have real bugs in them. Quite a natural thing!

If you don't want any bugs in your firewood, get those pressed wood logs sold in stores. ($$)

Also leaving split wood stacked outside in freezing temperatures seems to get rid of a lot of bugs.
