I have noticed that my clothes get really stinky -- a sort of petrochemical smell -- if I leave them in the dryer (after they've completely dried). If I dry them and pull them out right away, no stink. But if I throw them in the dryer, turn it on, and then ignore them for a day or two (or longer), they reek.
Any idea what could cause this? (I don't have a gas dryer; it's electric.)
Top of my head I am guessing that the vent for dryer is clogged / breaking down. Get it cleaned by a duct vacuuming firm. If that does not cure the problem I am guessing that the gaskets inside your dryer are breaking down OR the inner insulation around your dryer is breaking down.
