The stub for the shower head broke off in the wall. Failed right where the threads went into the pipe.
Maybe 2 inches in.
There has got to be some clever way of getting the remains of the stub from the pipe fitting.
There is not enough material showing out of the fitting to get hold of it so I need to get purchase and unscrew it.
Thought about putting a dab of a thick epoxy on an old screw driver. pack it into the broken off threads and let it set then just unscrew it. But there has got to be a better way.
It is not the end of the world if I have to break the wall...got lots of spare tile.
But there has to be a better way.

Depending on how much of the nipple is inside the fitting you might be able to use this type extractor : Internal Pipe Wrench Set By Superior Tool I have found this type to be a little easier to control -- a cam pivots out which grips the inside of the busted nipple...

Yes that's the one. You'll have to go to a plumbing supply store to buy it as your big box stores will not sell a specialty tool like this

You could also try the cheap trick of using the nice blue vinyl coated handle end of standard adjustable jaw plumbers pliers to sorta wedge inside the busted nipple and hope there is enough grip to remove the broken piece. It is free but it might chew up your ChannelLocks...

If you can't find an extractor, most shower supply lines are on interior walls. Opening up the back allows modifications without tile damage.

Just to tell the actual...Plumber used one of the extractors used for sprinklers. Simply cut it off with a hack saw at the right diameter for the fitting. $5 at any store selling sprinkler supplies.
