I'm looking for toilets for my totally remodeled home. How complicated can it be? Arrrrraaaghhhhh!!! Apparently veeeery complicated.

15" (sorta old standard) rim height. Gravity flush. Floor mount. Concealed trap/skirted design. Elongated bowl. White. Just white.....not cotton, colonial white, linen, dune, honed white, etc.........sigh.

Doesn't seem complicated to me, yet there are so many different terms used. Comfort height/chair height/universal height....all seem to be 16.5"+ rim height. I've tried so many combinations and single word searches....I'm about to give up.

Oh, and I'd rather not have need to remortgage the property just to purchase toilets.

Anyone out there who can crack this code?

Thanks!

Any decent plumber will have catalogs from Kohler, Crane, American Standard and Toto. If you are not happy with the choices offered you can spend time seeking out some odd ball manufacturer but I would recommend against firms that only spec fixtures in metric sizes...

About one month ago I replaced one toilet then two weeks later I liked it so much, I replaced another with the same model:

Kohler, Highline Classic White, Lowes Item #331929

It has a new style flushing system and works very well. I have yet to "plug" it up.........LOL

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, imartin26. I'm looking to find the style that is sleek from the rim to the floor......no trapways showing to catch the dirt and 'stuff' at the hard to reach places. They seems to be listed as "concealed trap/trapway/skirted/skirted trap, etc. At various times I clean up after males....aged 2 to 64.

Chet, Thanks for your reply. We are doing this ourselves. I am thinking that I should just go to a plumbing supply house, but then I feel guilty. I'll probably just try to find a cheaper price on the Internet. I don't want to order something just because the style meets my desires. I want to stay with a known company. Also, there's always that problem of replacing toilet seat if you don't stay standard.
.
accufitgolf, Thanks to you as well. I do know what you mean about that productive flush. I may just end up with one that I get to do the yucky wipe downs, but if I can find a sleek one I'd be much happier. At my age you begin to resent the poor aim of others, and I can't seem to fix that. Also, I need the 15" to rim version.

imartin, Did you know there were so many toilets out there??!! Ha! I have found several and thought, "That's it!" Then I figure out it's a wall drain one.....and when I get to the part that says 'suitable for prison use' it loses some of it's desirability.

I did find this one...

Thanks, Jan. I took a look at Menard's. Looks like a place I could be visiting on a twice daily basis right now. However, the house I'm working on is in Delaware. Oh, and you're welcome....the pun. Frustration's setting in. Lots of frustration. I thought it best to stop at 'crappy'. My, my....what I would have liked to say to let off a bit of steam. If just ONE guy in the house hold could refrain from acting as if he's putting out a three-alarm fire....well, it would help. YaknowattImean?
