I am just talking about grouping clothes..My closet rods/shelves & such are fine.
I have tried different ideas and they all are a pain when I look for what I want and when I am putting away clothes too.
Does anyone group my color ?? At least for the tops..
I wear alot of white, black, red, purple,blues...
I wonder if it would be nice to know that when I want a white shirt all my whites are together.
I have them right now by sleeveless, short sleeved, long sleeved, pants, shirts.
You should come to our house for grouping/sorting clothes. 2 boys, a girl, myself and my wife! LOL. DW likes to sort by outfit for each kid, so they don't have to pick out and match their clothes. It's a real PIA and nobody ever has all of their clothes put away.
One thing I do which saves time is I buy all the same white socks (for myself). Then after washing, I just pile ALL the socks into my sock drawer. They are all the same, so no need to find the other matching sock and roll them up!
My wife attached tags to the inside of my clothes similar to Garanimals but she used shapes. If I can match the shapes on the labels between the pants and shirt, I'm allowed out in public.
Personally, I prefer to have my clothes by season. Heaven forbid I should wear black between Easter and Labor day.
Being winter, I take all my shorts and such and put them in those space bags and put under the bed or whatever. Come spring, the sweaters go into the space bags and the summer attire comes out.
I tried grouping by color, but found it too much to keep up with consistently. I'm back to grouping by similar types (eg. short/long sleeve). It helps me more evenly rotate through the clothes by putting the last worn behind the not worn yet.
I group by type, then color. All of my short sleeves are in one place and they are basically grouped by color, the same with long sleeved, etc. Honestly, I don't own enough clothes that I can't find something I need. Your clothing ownership must be over-the-top out-of-control. The only reason my clothes are grouped by color is because they are washed by color and therefore put away by color. That's right, we have enough reds in this household to make one load of laundry.

I'm the opposite. I throw away or donate the clothes that are rarely worn. It's never because they were always on the bottom/in the back aren't easily seen. They always end up at the bottom/in the back because every family member passes them up due to not really liking them.
