We use a product called "Stainless Steel Magic" from Bed, Bath and Beyond. We have a water dispenser and have never had problems with water spots or drip marks from it.

Good Luck:-)

Before we got our water softener installed, we began getting those stains.
The people who installed left us with a little can of stuff called A-Maz.
It worked on both the glass and stainless steel.
A-Maz (broken link)
(After we got the softener thing going, the stains never returned.)

Try a 50-50 solution of water and vinegar. Keep it in a spray bottle (preferably an opaque one). The vinegar will dissolve the hard water stains.

I think ammonia is good for hard water stains also.

After trying different stainless steel cleaner I found that SprayWay stainless steel cleaner and polish is great, no streaks and it removes water spots as well. I got mine at Sam's Club.

I am a big believer in vinegar's cleaning capabilities, but these hard water stains were like nothing I'd ever seen.
Nothing worked but the A-maz.
Actually, before we got the softener, the hard water was like nothing I'd ever experienced, period. Taking a shower left my skin like a potato chip.
I wish I could get Sprayway here, it sounds like good stuff.
I suppose there is always Amazon.

Actually, I was at Target yesterday and I seen they had SprayWay Grill Cleaner. I never checked if they carried the others, that would be in the cleaning section so you could check that out.
