Since there was a thread about cleaning electric outlets, I thought it only fair that water faucets get equal time.

It is a rare person who cleans the tip of the water faucet where the water comes out, or even knows how to unscrew and clean the diffuser. Yet, if you were to have someone from the CDC come into your kitchen, their swab of the faucet would almost certainly have the highest bacteria count. If the faucet hangs down, just put a little bleach in a coffee cup, add water to fill, and hold it so the faucet is in the cup. You could also use boiling water (but not that AND bleach). Otherwise, even a good wipe-down can help.

Yes! I do it periodically, and clean all faucets at my house. Not because of the bacteria, but the diffuser aerator hold some mineral deposits and sediment. It slows the water flow.
I am not worried about bacteria.

When I lived in a house that had hard water, I would periodically use that CLR stuff to dissolve the buildup.

But now? No.

Part of spring cleaning for me... all the faucet tips and shower heads are soaked in vinegar. Also clean behind the refrigerator, clean above and the wood on all the cabinets, dust high wall hangings, and clean the chandeliers. Just part of keeping the house running well.

Our faucet heads are cleaned on the outside daily. Once a year I take off the aerator and use canned air to blow out any sediment that may have accumulated.

same here.

I too am not worried about bacteria either, I would have been dead years ago.

I also clean the inside of the toilet tank because it gets rust sediment on the bottom, and I use those bleach tablets......

I also need a life.

PS: I have one, it's just not the one I want.

I wipe ours down several times/week and clean more thoroughly around where the faucet meets the countertop once/week or so (and more, if needed). Once every few months I soak all the faucet tips/shower heads in vinegar.

Kitchens as a whole tend to have high bacteria counts. I read somewhere that there is usually less E. coli in one's bathroom than in one's kitchen.

Why does something that takes about 30 seconds to do blow your mind. As soon as you finish washing your hands and brushing your teeth you wipe it down, no big deal.
I enjoy my life too, especially a clean healthy one.
