As strange as it sounds, I bought my house mostly for the land ... 1.29 acres of trees, shrubs, QUIET. (I love the house too, but would have bought just about any house on this lot!)

This is one view from the kitchen window (although not taken from there) ...

And here's another taken right FROM the kitchen window a few weeks ago when we still had lots of snow on the ground ...

The first thing I do when I get up is go downstairs and pull open the kitchen curtains. I never fail to be calmed by the view.

I have been blessed with something new outside my kitchen window.

A robin has built her nest in a tree a few feet from my deck!

I can see the nest perfectly.

I am pretty sure she laid her eggs yesterday, Saturday. She is no longer leaving the nest for hours at a time.....she is staying put except for very short jaunts.

It is going to be fun to watch, but nerve wracking at the same time.

I am going to have to start mowing around that tree in about two weeks.....I hope I don't scare her and her babies.

Dinner!

j/k but we had around 20 of these guys surround the house a few times this week.

First pic is outside the kitchen window, second is outside the lower level.

Beautiful animals... great to be able to see them up close in the wild. The kids were entranced.

I hope you do not plan to have a garden or plant trees.

We don't have water rights for outside use, though we have the option to buy the rights so we can wash our trucks etc.

But up here in the mountains (10,000ft) you're not going to grow much of anything unless you have a green house. Which is fine by me... we moved here to enjoy other activities. Every week we get a box of local organic produce delivered to our door.

I have an open concept kitchen/dining/living room so my view from my sink is across those rooms to a wall of windows.

We live in a neighborhood, so my view is mostly of my patio, a large expanse of green lawn, and then a fence. Next year that view will include an inground pool with a waterfall flowing over rocks! That's the plan anyway!

I have bird feeders on the stone patio and lots of hanging baskets with trailing blooms, and flowers in the flower beds. I have a fountain that has softly running water in it that cascades over pebbles. I love to get up every morning, open that door to the patio, and breathe the fresh air, while I'm listening to the birds and the fountain, and admiring my huge spoiled cat as he lays in the morning sun.

Life is great - especially in the morning...

Nice looking kitchen. We have very similar granite/sink/faucets.

Sadly there are no windows in my kitchen. There are many other windows in the place and a nice back yard with wooded area but that is next to the living room. I miss not having a kitchen window.
