Snakes are not my favorite creatures in the world but I cannot think of a more torturous death than being lit on fire and slowly burning to death. If you were that afraid of it hurting you - knock it out with a shovel or rock or do as I would do - run away from it screaming. Why be so cruel - especially if it was just living its life and not hurting anyone?

Very cruel people that got what they deserve. No mention of the species, but I'm betting this wasn't a potentially deadly rattler or something.

Poured gasoline on it and then lit it on fire? What an ignorant person.

Totally agree with you. I'm not particularly fond of snakes, but there is NO WAY I would have set the poor creature on fire.

Seems like she thought it was a slug and tried to kill it that way. The genius son just added fuel to the problem (no pun intended).

I wonder what they do to giant insects, mice, etc.?

There was a guy in CA who put gas on a possum and lit it and then shot it several times with a cross bow before it died. He got sentenced to a lot of years in prison. Snake lady ought to join him.
