We have an 18 foot high ceiling in our living room which we use as an office. There are no lights in the room other than desk lamps.

My ideal lighting situation would be to have a ceiling fan with lights that point up towards the ceiling to provide indirect reflective lighting. I have never seen anything like a ceiling fan with lights that point up. Anyone know if something like this exists?

I really do not want to go the canned lighting route because I don't like the "boxing ring" effect of lights pointing down. I could probably live without the ceiling fan. I suppose there are chandeliers

I won't mount anything on the wall since I doubt there is romex in every wall and we do have lots of windows and the walls aren't symmetrical.

The main reason you won't see lights on a ceiling fan pointing up is because it would cause a "strobe effect".

I'd go the chandelier route. My next choice would be cans, then maybe cove.

I should have been more specific, I would want the lights mounted above the blades for another reason, even with the blades not moving, the blades would often be in the way of the lights if the lights were under the blades pointing up.
