We recently moved into a brand new home and I have some concerns about our tub faucet. It's the second bathroom, so there's a tub with a shower. When the shower runs, the tub faucet pops out a little bit from the fiberglass shower surround, and with each shower, becomes a little bit looser. The builder's plumber has come twice and tightened it, and replaced the cracked caulking in that area. He says it's the heat expanding the copper piping behind the wall that is pushing the faucet out and not to worry about it. Well, I worry about it, and don't think I should have to tighten the faucet after every few showers.
Can anybody help with more ideas?

Sounds like a loose pipe clamp that holds the piping tight to the wall stud has come loose. It will only get worse in time if not remedied. The plumbers story sounds a little fishy to me. I'd keep on the contractors back until done properly. You may even want to call an independent plumber to come in and assess the situation and if he finds out there is a problem and tells you how it should be fixed then you'd have some ammunition to take to the builder.

I agree - that story sounds like BS to me. I would not buy it, and would tell him so. Tell the builder you want another plumber to look at it, because the one he sent is not capable of fixing the problem.

Maybe you are just very good looking?

The plumber's story is as cracked as his butt. Chances are, he wants to avoid opening up the wall BEHIND the assembly to do a proper repair.

Also, many builders use the same contractor that did the installation to fix their work. Since the 'go-back' may be at the contractor's expense, it's in their best interest to keep the cost as low as possible. As mentioned, demand another plumber. If they balk, contact the state agency that regulates the builders, contractor's or trades and file a complaint.
