Obviously we didn't do something right here. We used a Behr solid stain to cover our concrete patio. Within a VERY short time (less than 3 months maybe), the stain started peeling off. I've attached a picture of what it looks like now.
I understand the best method would be to strip it and use an acid based stain, but the laziness in me was hoping I'd have other options.
I thought of putting down a darker semi-transparent stain over the light spots... with hopes to make a rustic look..(?) Do you think that could work? or Does anyone have any other advice here?

Just a heads up... were on a tight budget and toyally a DIY household. Click image for larger version

Yep - that is made for wood, not concrete.
Might as well let the rest of it flake off. Do not put down more of the wrong product!

You can power-wash it off.

The stain we used was actually for concrete. I assume we didnt prep.the concrete properly before staining....since applying it.. Ive read horrible reviews on the behr solid stain. My finance works on decks for a living so we thought this wouldnt be to different or difficult. We have power washed it..And were stuck with a half stained patio.... All the lose stain has been removed from the power washer. From what i can tell my picture didnt upload correctly.. Ill try to repost.

Most use a light acid to clean the concrete before staining that I have seen just like when apinting concrte proch. Most stains that are more like surface coats which like others in that it depends on a mechanical bond rather than a chemical bond like some things.Murethic(spell) acid is most often used to etch the concrte and to clean it.

My favorite instructions on almost any paint product container:

"IMPORTANT- Do Not Open this product without reading and understanding the directions/instructions for use". This is THE number 1 reason why manufacturers warranties are never fulfilled.

BEHR PREMIUM® Solid Color Concrete Stain | Behr Paint

Read the preparation part.
