I need to figure out how to clean my asbestos tiles. They have not been waxed in years and have dulled and yellowed. Damp mopping with mild soap doesn't do anything to revive them. I accidently spilled some bleach on a corner and that part looks better but I'm sure bleach is not good for the floor... These floors really hold up even to abuse but they need to be maintained or they can look pretty bad.
Asbestos tiles are not considered to be a hazard, as far as as estos regulations are concerned. Not unless they a ground to dust. Problems happen when folks want to remove them, and even then, the tiles are not the issue. It's the mastic and vapor barriers installed under them. These types of ACMs are impossible to remove with dry methods, as they become friable easily wben disturbed.
I.e. scraping and such. Your tiles sound like they are in great shape, so by all means, leave them wbere they are. If this was pipe insulation, tattered beyond recognition, in an attic or basement, it would have to go. This situation is one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Just to say, I am a certified asbestos operations supervisor. Seen a lot of asbestos work.
Tiles are considered an "other" type of ACM building material. . If there is no reason to remove them, such as accessing. something under them, no need to worry about it. Sounds to me like you have a nice floor here.
