Doesn't matter what the customer can get it for that's not the point. I can get steak cheaper then what the restaurant charges me should I bring my own and ask the chef to cook it?
Like I said wrong/missing/broken parts hold things up. And if the customer wants to supply all the materials who tells them what materials to get?...the contractor and you think he will do that for free?
I installed customer supplied materials a few times and never again. The one time I gave a list to my customer a week ahead of time and the day I was ready to start they tell me a few things "they couldn't find". Then another time I was told "I was too busy didn't get a chance to go yet"
Every business marks up materials and products contractors are no different. Allowing a customer to supply materials is a problem and doesn't save them anything.
