Just wondering if any one had an effective way of cleaning Porcelain tile floors. I think they are the same as Ceramic tile floors.

Also, are there any good cleaners out there? e.g., i was looking at the Hoover FloorMate. Most of our downstairs is tiled, so its quite a bit of area and wanted to see if there a scrubber we can purchase that will help ease the cleanup.

Default Mop

I clean ours with a mop and either Mr Clean, or Lysol cleaners. Works well.

I just got a Hoover steam mop and love it. Before that, a mop and Mr Clean.

I have been using a Hoover floor mate for years. I use Armstrong tile and vinyl floor cleaner. The supply tank on my cleaner does not hold enough for my kitchen so I just apply the very hot cleaner with a mop. Then use the hoover to scrub and just vacuums up and almost dries the floor. It take 15 minutes to do my 600 square foot kitchen.

Another vote for the Hoover Floor Mate. All the floors in my house are porcelain tile and I love the Floor Mate.

I have used the FloorMate for years. Sure beats swirling around dirty water with a mop!

thanks for all the responses! truly appreciate it. I have been looking online at the hoover floormate also. One question i have is from a surface area perspective, how helpful is it? e.g., we have a 3000 sq ft house our of which approx 2000 sq ft are tiles. If i were to use the floormate to scrub all the tiles, how long are we talking about here? an hour? 2 hours?

The other alternative i was looking at was maybe spending few hundred more and getting a commercial scrubber like the ( Oreck-Orbiter-Ultra-Multi-Purpose-Floor-Machine . Sams has it for $379 and so does amazon for the same price.

My house has 1,200 sq ft of porcelain tile and I can clean all the floors in way less than an hour with my Floor Mate.

awesome. what cleaning solution do yall use with the floormate? I'm planning on picking one up from walmart. i looked at the description and cannot tell if it came with its own solution. i've read onlne that you can put whatever you want (e.g., Vinegar).

Also, this brings me to my next question- can you use vinegar to clean porcelain tiles? i've read online you can, but the handout we got from our builder said not to use vinegar.
