I just bought a Whirlpool upright freezer. 15.8 CF. It only has three shelves. I would like to get one or two hanging wire baskets for it. They would be the type that hang from the bottom of one of the existing shelves and have an open bin-type front. I think it would be a more effecient way to use the space rather than just stacking everything. I have tried to find them online, but am not having any luck. Where can I find these?? Thanks.

Not sure how well these will hold up, nor do I have an idea how well things might / might not freeze if they are not in contact with the shelf, but these under shelf baskets are widely available: Amazon.com: Grayline 40606, Medium Hanging Stack Basket, White: Home & Kitchen

Thanks. That's what I'm looking for. When I searched, I asked for "freezer" hanging baskets.
Those should work.
Why don't you think the food will freeze?

Before I read the post I was thinking you wanted to hang plants from the freezer.

Everything in the freezer will freeze, it does not have to be in contact with a shelf. You don't want to hang anything from a shelf that has cooling tubing in it though, there is a risk of breaking it and having the refrigerant leak out.

Have you tried IKEA? I seem to remember seeing something like that there. Also, Home Depot and Lowe's have baskets made for bedroom closets that might work.

Well, I might want to hang plants, now that you mention it.
None of the shelves have cooling tubing. They're just like fridge shelves. I'll be in Portland in a couple weeks. Maybe I can check IKEA. I'm sure I can find something. I don't know why I was thinking I needed something special for a freezer. I guess any hanging wire shelf would work.

As in counter-intuitive as it may seem- those extra shelves are actually costing you space.

Stacking stuff leaves NO SPACE- meaning MORE SPACE for MORE STUFF. And the more stuff (or fuller the freezer) the less it has too work.

I just ordered the freezer, yesterday, and don't have it to measure, but the space between the bottom shelf and the middle shelf looked to be about 1 1/2'. It can not be adjusted. Most of the food we'll be freezing will NOT be in store packaged boxes (which are easy to stack) but in vacu-sealed bags. They just don't stack that well. I guess I could use some small wire "crates" to sit ON the shelves. That might work to hold stuff in place.

I looked at the pic of the freezer, and the wires on the shelves run front to back, and I'm afraid that this type of shelf would not stay in place. I think the support piece would fall thru.
