The best heating system I have ever seen in a house is Cast Iron Baseboard hot water with a gas fired boiler. This was in a home built by a custom builder as his own home. He also had a high efficiency central A/C system with all the ducts in the ceiling.

Probably the best combination of heating and cooling you can find but extremely expensive.

I have a natural gas boiler with baseboard radiators in MN. LOVE the heat compared to forced air. AND I also have central air conditioning via a high velocity a/c system. Best of both worlds.

It isnt something i would want to highlight with a different color paint.
There are newer, much nicer looking, replacement baseboard covers available.
I am going to start replacing all my ugly old ones.

Get them painted professionally.
Maybe a body shop can do a nice flame job on one.
