Hi. I have old siding that was put on the house when it was built I'm guessing, and that is 1924. They call it cement siding. Some of the tiles are starting to crack and I'm missing a few small bits on the corners of some of the tiles. Can you tell me please if there is some way to repair it? I am not in a financial position to replace it, but I do want to fix it so the wood is not showing through and getting weathered. Is this an impossible feat? Please tell me there is a way to repair it.

Thank you!

They also call it asbestos siding.

If you can get whole pieces out... a few replacements might do.
Fiber Cement Siding - GAF WeatherSide

On the stabilize the damage on the cheap until the full replacement can be done level...
maybe parge over the defects with something like a mortar.

I just found a website for the replacement siding! wooohooo. Hopefully it's not too difficult to take out and replace. For the time being I can replace the shingles as I need to, and paint them as necessary.

Home Depot carries it. I'm sooo grateful to this company (GAF) for making replacement siding.

1924!?
Dimes to donuts it's asbestos.

And I'm guessing its the "Purity" line from GAF that matches your current shingle siding(?) I have certainly seen my fair share of that stuff!

My parents had "Emphasis" on their house. I don't know how old it was, but it was old.

Weird stuff.
