Previous owners put these lights up. I dont like them, mainly due to the trim and then due to small gaps that leak warm air out to the attic.
Notice in the pic, its just an ugly appearance to look up and see the inside of the cans. Talk about awful job at designing. But rather than having to replace a bunch of cans with new lights all together, are there trims available that will allow a snug light/trim fit that blends together in a way, and where you can not see the ugly can?
On my fixtures, there's a way to adjust the height of bulb placement. Also, bulbs made for the fixture are sized differently. For instance, on one bulb type, I had to drop the socket down so I could screw it in below the trim. I suggest you pull the trim and take it with you the next time you buy bulbs.
Thanks. Ill have to check out the sizes of the bulbs next time im out, after measure the trim. I didnt think theyd get much wider, but perhaps they do, hopefully. Ive yet to buy bulbs for these, have just used spares I found in the basement.
They have different sizes. We replaced 5 can lights in our kitchen and the light is wonderful. About the same as from a halogen bulb and nice and even. Not spotty and blue like older cheaper LEDs. All you see when it is off is a smooth white surface.
Looks like can/bulb ratio is off size wise. I put my first set of Halo canned lights in when remodeling my kitchen in 2004. I've since added can lights to both my living & family rooms. I've yet to replace any halogen bulbs. I like the way halogen flood lights (flat face) looked rather than halogen spot lights (bulbous face) looked in the cans when looking up at the ceiling...so I put flood lights in mine. Mine are PAR 30. I have both short & long neck varieties.
This might be old info, but here's a link about bulbs for can lights. Maybe there's some info there that can help. And here's a link to Halo recessed lighting parts.
C7IC is a Commercial Electric (Home Depot) 6" can. Looks like you have a BR30 lamp and probably want a BR40 in there. Or you could get a BR30 trim, which tapers more. Personally I think the BR40s look better in the 6" cans. A 60W halogen BR40 is pretty bright.
For airtightness, a Halo "air tite" trim might work in that can; if not, and you have access to the attic, you could probably replace with an airtight can.

I was confused because none of the trims listed on the label appear to be the airtite ones.
