How much is too much? We are having our house recarpeted for 6500. It's about 2000sf does that sound like too much. Especially since the carpet was suppose to be 60% off

2000sqft of carpet means about $3/sq ft for carpet. It's in the right range if you bought very good quality carpet and padding at 60pc off. They are probably charging you also for removal of old flooring, installation, moving furniture, delivery, tax and every little thing if they are offering you 60pc off.

Shop around, that sounds excessive... Id prefer wood with large rugs to an overall carpet.

I paid 2200 for 1100 sq with 6 pound pad. Rental carpet I tore out old carpet and tack strip. I also had 10 wrap around steps which were 30 bucks each. Carpet was $1 sq and pad .65 sq.
sounds like they're charging for every little thing they can. I have called 4-5 different carpet places and made them bid against each other
