you would be surprised what some landscaping and paint would do ...I would put several rose bushes in the front yard and maybe dig up and put some flower beds in and also some paint . You would be surprised .

You can put lipstick on a pig all day- but at the end of the day, you still have a pig.

These are some of changes I would do to make it look like something I would like.

Roof absolutely needs to be black.

Get rid of the bay window, and get 2 new windows upstairs like the bottom ones so they will be symetrical. I would replace all the windows to black windows with the muttons in them. I hate with a passion white windows. I would then get either black or hunter green, maybe maroon shutters for all the windows. The bricks are nice, I like them.

The front door needs to be replaced to something more decorative, and new light fixtures. I think some sort of peaked roof over the front door with columns on either side would look nice. New railings would also be needed.

The horrible vinyl siding should come off and I would like some sort of cedar shakes in a brownish color. I like the rustic look as opposed to the horizontal rows of vinyl siding, which I think is awful.

New landscaping is an absolute must. White trim along the peaks also will need to be black.

It's screaming for one giant crabapple tree hiding the taller side of the house!

Put a wicked big lightning rod on the taller house side. Let the house ground it, and get your fire insurance up to date.

Bring the siding down to the ground on the left side of the house. Honestly that would look pretty damn good then.

That's what you call a "remuddling."

Short-term, I would re-do the entry to remove that awful siding and add something with sidelights or double doors, add shutter to the new bay window, and plant an ornamental between the two windows under the siding addition.

Any ideas?
Because it looks unbalanced you'll have to do something to rectify that on the opposite side. A big bush or something? It desperately needs some lawn and landscaping.

The first thing I'd do is paint the addition the same color as the brick. I'd also replace that "bay" window with a flat one and shutters like the ones below.
