Several months ago I contacted him through a private message, and he did respond. He was definitely straight to the point! His analogy about refacing cabinets being like putting a new suit on a dirty bum (or something like that) was the clincher that made me ditch the idea of refacing. Hope he's still around and okay.

I'm on a couple of other boards like this one and they both allow permabans. It's usually noted under the user name in the same place that this board puts Junior / Senior Member or whatever custom text someone changes it to like this:

User Name
Banned

the banning / infractions thing is totally annoying, we are not in school. were adults.
what happened to freedom of speech?
Only applies to the government. Private individuals can ban certain kinds of speech in their homes, and businesses can do likewise. Also, with freedom of speech comes responsibility, and acceptance of consequences (says she who was teargassed for protesting in the sixties and figured it was consequences that could be expected and didn't whine about it).

None of which has anything to do with desertsun41, but that question indicated a misunderstanding of what freedom of speech is.

The Terms of Service is something you agree to by the act of using C-D; it's like a contract. This includes the consequences of violating them. I've had my hand slapped in past, and for the most part I accepted that I deserved it, reminded myself of the rules, and moved on.

Was he the guy that was very vocal about being an enemy of Home Depot? No matter what the thread was, it would always turn into some hate about Home Depot when he started posting...

Yes, he would not name names but referred to "the big box stores".

The thing is, people on a limited budget have a good choice of options at the locally owned independent dealers.

Best to contact members privately...

On a side note... sometimes life gets busy and/or interests shift... does not mean it is permanent.
