If you have full size W/D now, you will hate how small the stackable units are in terms of their capacity.

Again, as I wrote earlier in this thread, the stackable units I linked to were "regular" size (same size as my current "regular" units). There are some stackable ones that are smaller, but I wouldn't buy them.

I've had regular sized stackable and the small stackables. The small ones are intolerable. The regular ones are totally fine.

I understand your resistance to a front-loader, but figured i'd post since we've had one for 8 years with no problems. And, our next set will be the same. Neither of us want to go back to a top-loading washer.

At our old house, we had them stacked but I un-stacked them at the new place. I think you're on the right track in terms of adding the mud room and putting the w/d in there. As others have said, having a full bathroom on the first floor could really be a plus down the road. Good luck!

Ooh a mud room would be great! Can't go wrong there.

Maybe I just love being in Hawaii (for sure) but I really liked the stackable I had and I stay sometimes for a month at a time doing laundry all the time because of the beach. Never had a problem.

Alright, okay, alright. Sorry, I missed that info & sorry it upset you. Good luck, then, but why ask? Just do what you originally desired... What difference does it make that you should ask the forum...

Good luck with your project! I want a mud room so badly I'm considering moving the washer and dryer to the basement so the laundry room can be used for coats and boots.

All I pointed out was that I had noted how many bathrooms I have now AND how many I would have after the change in the OP. Your answer didn't "upset" me, it was just based on a false assumption (although you are right that if I DID have only 1 full bath left after the change, I definitely wouldn't do it). Sorry if I sounded rude, it's hard to tell tone over the Internet (except when you use a "sarcastic" icon).

I asked the forum for the same reason I ask LOTS of questions on the foum: because I was curious what other people would do! But the more I think about it (especially after reading some answers), the more I realize I really want the mudroom!

lol, yep!! For me I think it's this winter we've been having in New Hampshire ... lots of snow that I track into the TV room (the room right off the side porch) no matter how many times I stomp my feet while just outside! A mudroom would be soooooooooo nice!!!

I reread and caught up. I vote for the mudroom.
