When you search for such information, I've found that most threads for these topics are found in the individual city forums. I'm hoping that if enough people voice support for it, they might add such a sub-forum.

I could be wrong.

We are remodeling a new home purchase (well... old home, but new to us).
right now we are workign on the interior...

But its a large property, with inground pool... and we are looking to turn it into our own little slice of Key West.

So I wouldnt be against a dedicated "outdoor living/pool" forum.

I actually was interested in such a thing years ago when we were doing our landscaping (creating a patio, etc..)

I was told then it belonged under the "garden" forum. But really it doesn't, because on the garden forum people are talking much more specifically about plants, not about building patios or decks, pools, etc..

I'd be in favor of an outdoor living forum, even if I only visit from time to time.

Actually, I think you have a good idea. I proposed that the Admin's look into this idea. They do create new subforums based on topic popularity and its quite a process to start a new sub-forum so it might not happen over night but I like the idea!

I understood "hardscapes" to be more focused on just the patio pavers...

Would that include outdoor bars, custom outdoor furniture? etc?

Ha getting ahead of ourselves maybe. :-)

A unique example... I just started a new thread in garden.
//www.city-data.com/forum/garde...giganteus.html

I don't really consider it true gardening topic?
While its definitely a plant based question, its really about improving outdoor living.

I would be interested in the possible new sub-forum. I love the Garden forum (with 2 feet of snow covering my lawn, I have spring fever something AWFUL right now!!!) but it wouldn't occur to me to post questions about pavers etc. there.

I voted yes.

There is so much to taking care of a pool that it falls outside of gardening. I understand the need to take the gardening in consideration when planning a pool but the construction and materials and maintenance is whole new world for some. Taking care of a pool is so relaxing to me, once I get the chemicals down.
