I think folks are lazy, it say to wipe down and leave the door open for a few.....

All I need to do is leave a hand towel in the door and it's fine.

I always liked top loaders. The agitators get my clothes so much cleaner. The front loaders just toss the clothes around in circles. Plus I like all my clothes soaked in water these front loaders use barely any water.

I've used many front loaders even the ones at the laundromat and they never clean my clothes as good as a top loader.

I've had an LG Steamwasher set since the summer of 2006. No problems whatsoever with mold, smells, etc. All I do is run the tub cleaning once a month (if that) and leave the door open after running a load of clothes until it dries out. It's no different than when I left the lid up on the old top-loader we had before (which I'll never go back to).

I had high end front loader washer/dryer at my last apartment. I almost told the ll to take it out or put a lock on the door because I didn't want to be responsible if it broke. Sure enough a few months in the seal on the door was leaking and had to have a warranty repair done. These things are made of so much plastic you feel like you might break it just shutting the door. They have many other cons like you can't open the door while it's running if you dropped a sock or something. You have to cancel the whole wash and start everything up again.

Like most things older style stuff is built better in my experiences. A steel top loading washer will outlast any of these plastic machines. They both have pros and cons but durability is what I look for, not how cute or cool it looks. It's a machine and I expect it to be built like one.

I have LC front loader, now for 6 years with no problems.I wipe it dry and put towel in door and leave open to air out.
most of any trouble with mold etc will be laziness.
