Just saw this this morning on craigslist. What a winter, all the snow took down a local landmark:

"FREE FIREWOOD for your FIREPLACE - BACKYARD BONFIRE - FIRE PIT or BBQ (St. Louis Park Treehouse)
During the recent APRIL 1ST HIGH WIND / SNOWSTORM our family sadly lost a significant portion of our locally and nationally famous treehouse in the ST. LOUIS PARK AREA which is perched in our BIG MAPLE TREE."

And now gone:

That's one of the downsides of putting so much money into a house in a tree. They just don't last.

Those things aren't tree houses, they're tree MANSIONS.

Tree houses (we usually called them tree FORTS) are supposed to be built by kids from scrounged materials, designed to use the materials found.

Sad to see it get destroyed though. Looked like a neat project, and obviously somebody's labor of love.

Sorry, but I find it hilarious, even if someone did do it as a labor of love. Nature makes a lot of things look like that "project" '57 Chevy on blocks in the front yard.

Built by the same real estate developer that built the homes taken out by mini-storm Sandy... And you wonder why your tree house insurance is so high...

A live tree doesn't make the best construction material.

I was surprised it didn't have more supporting timbers, like a deck that just happens to be in a tree. Can only see two supports. Surprised it lasted this long, we have some strong weather up here.
