Recirculating fan in a kitchen are next to worthless. The heat and smoke/fumes needs to exit the area......a recirculating fan is not going to do this.

These worthless recirculating setups are done to save money, cheap and crummy way to make it look like you have a fan system.

Almost as bad as putting a vented fan in the bathroom, half-way up the side of the wall, and nowhere near the shower.

My house has a microwave over the range and it vents outside. The traditional hoods are more beautiful and definitely work better tho.
