This question is for those who have a "no outdoor shoes" or "please remove shoes" (or use shoe covers) policy in their homes. I'm curious to know your reason(s) for the rule - which I have also :-)
The poll allows multiple choices, btw.
A request: PLEASE don't turn this thread into one of those that devolve into arguments as to whether having a shoes-off policy is right/wrong, rude/not-rude, reasonable/unreasonable, sensible/OCD, etc etc ad nauseam. There are tons of those on the internet already. This is just an informal polling of those who already feel that outdoor shoes aren't something they want worn inside their house. Thanks! :-)

You know what else there are tons of on this very forum already?
Threads on this very tired and worn-out topic. Here's one of them:
Simple. Because you step in gross disgusting stuff on the street, from oil, bugs, dirt excrement saliva gum etc. I don't want you tracking that stuff on my tile or carpet.
That poll is simply asking if people do it or not. This poll is different. It's about the REASONS people do it.
Thanks, that's exactly it in a nutshell. :-)
The problem with those other polls is that they end up being a novel's worth of argumentative posts about whether being "no-shoes" is right or wrong, etc etc. Or arguing about whether any given reason has validity.
IMHO, any reason for preferring "shoes off" is valid; I'm just curious to see which reasons tend to be the most common.
With me, I hate shoes so as soon as I come in, the shoes come off. Hubby on the other had, hates to go barefoot so his street shoes come off but his slippers goes on.
I prefer barefoot in home, hence we have jug of water by door and rinse shoes in puddle of water,if extremely dirty,we remove.Matter of cleanliness, like washing hands when we come in from shopping or rinsing veggies before eating.
Location: The Northeast - hoping one day the Northwest!

I always take off my shoes when ever i enter anybody's house. Even if they don't require it. Just for a few reasons. No dirt brought in, and also for myself it's WAY more comfortable.
