If money was no object I'd move into an apartment while the contractors I hire remove the HVAC and water heater replacing them with new more efficient designs. I'd have insulators come in and change out the insulation in the attic, walls, on the pipes, and in the air ducts. I'd move all furniture into storage while flooring contractors remove all carpet and flooring replacing it with whatever my wife likes. As for style, no style in particular. If you go too far with a particular style it could make it harder to sell the home. Keep the design simple and neutral and you'll be happier with it for much longer AND be easier to sell. My focus is always function first, design second. Each room has a purpose. Design for it's purpose first. Why have a huge fancy kitchen if you know you're rarely going to cook that much? Rest of the space will be clutter or a "do not use" space. A bedroom is for sleeping. It's not an entertainment room.
Currently we're pretty traditional, but I always find myself gravitating towards french influences. I just can't help myself.
We're in the process of a home addition and remodel and I keep wondering if we should head in the direction of nautical/beach house being that we're less than a mile from the water, but because we're not boaters or big beach goers (at the moment), I keep leaning towards traditional.
Indeed they were even better!!!!!! (I have many records of music from the 60s and man oh man!!!!!!! (I think 70s are my favourite decade for rock))
