No, I just put 7 drops in maybe 1/4 c. warm water. It can give a little sting at first, but you get used to it. I take this orally. However, you must never take Tea Tree oil by mouth! Is good in mouth rinses but don't swallow, is severely toxic.
Anifani, what all are you taking for joint pain? I also use SAM-e, EFAs and MSM/glucosamine, which seems to really make a difference.

ahhh, so you drink it that way?? [if so...i'll have to try that]
when i but it 'straight', i mix 50/50 with olive oil. [the very first time i bought it, it was already cut 50/50 with it.] so by purchasing it at 100% , it's cheaper for me to cut it myself.
but for sore throats... i use to dropper, to put it 'straight' [though it's 50/50] right on the sides of my throat.... burns like no tomorrow, but heck... i have not had a full blown sore throat since.... when i feel the itch or pain coming on... coupla dabs and i'm good to go... oh yeah... that and the neti pot.
OK -- anyone else use one??
gotta love all this 'homeopathic' stuff.
but honestly ... i can not recall the last time i was sick [cold or flu]
certainly not since i've started all this 'natural' remedies herbs and the sort.

Not a thing but the occasional aspirin, soaks in the hot tub, and yoga and tai chi for stretching . . . the pain has really been bad the last few days, wh/ is one reason I have been so sedentary and on this computer instead of doing as much housework!!!!
I have a bleeding disorder (Von Willebrands) and so have to be very careful taking even the occasional aspirin . . . and have to make sure other meds do not have anti-coagulant properties. Frankly, I know nothing about SAM-e, EFAs, and MSM/glucosamine, but you can believe I am gonna check it out! The pain is so bad in my back (lumbar) and right ankle today . . . I am literally hobbling/shuffling around as if I were 85. My dog is even looking at me strangely!!!

We are so off-topic, but I too have a bleeding disorder, and have safely taken glucosamine. You can also try gelatin in fruit juice. It is natural alternative to the tablets.
Feel better, anifani821, it's bad today!

Thank you, OTR!! I tend to feel like I am the only person on the planet w/ a bleeding disorder and so have to always check things out . . . you just simplified that for me. I truly do appreciate your sharing that info.
I just told DH and he says - we must go to the GNC or CVS and get something that will start helping us. His shoulder is giving him a fit today! We think it may be the barometric pressure coupled w/ the high humidity. We have noticed our joint problems increase w/ those meteorologic conditions.
Oh - who cares if we got off topic - I started the thread and it is for household hints . . . and what better household hint can there be than for the people in the household to get some pain relief, Hee Hee!!!!

Well, as I am in the boons, and in a snow storm, I can't get much of anything, but if you don't find the tabs at either GNC or CVS (but shouldn't have a problem), get some of those little orange boxes of gelatin at the super-market, mix in with your favourite juice and you're good to go.
My older daughter, Dr. M, a homopathic specialist, made this recommendation after she passed her boards with flying colours.
And yes, the barometre pressure often increases joint pain--or at least it does for me.
I've been keeping a record to ensure myself it isn't something else.
Hope you both feel better after a jaunt to the joint shop.

Ohhhhhh - I am envious - a daughter who can give you really valuable health info! Congrats on her boards!!!! Youngest son is finishing up degree in Health and Nutrition . . . and he and fiancee are also going to get certified as yoga instructors. I am so pleased and like to feel I had a little influence on that.
I believe we need to give the body every opportunity to heal itself . . . and to use "natural" methods when possible . . .
which is another reason I have so appreciated the non-toxic household concoctions wh/ have been posted here.

Am not up on the bleeding disorders, but think you might want to check with your doctor on the EFA's especially. They are good for the heart and lowering cholesterol, so might have a blood thinning component. The MSM/glucosamine should be okay, as long as you don't have a sulfa allergy.
Never thought to use Oregano oil for a sore throat or gargle. I never get sick or get sore throats! But then I take a boatload of herbs and supplements! I just have some arthritis.
I have ordered from www.GNC.com online before, and they deliver in a timely manner.
