I still have my Pioneer plasma. It runs hot enough to boil water but man the picture is beautiful!

Plasma's can use as much as 10x power as an LED ($10/year vs up to $100/year). They also run hot and have a fan that can make noises (buzzing/whirring). Keep these things in mind when deciding between the two.

Can't say I'm surprised. The market has been trending this way for some time.

Got a 58 inch Panasonic plasma and a 60 inch LG plasma. In a dark room, I don't think LCD/LED compares favorably to a good plasma. However, few people are able (or willing) to black out rooms just for their TV so LCD/LED probably is a better choice for the majority.

Me too! I love my Samsung plasma...it has an incredible picture.
