Builders are trying to lure reluctant buyers with plane tickets, new cars and even a pet peacock.

Big builders have a way of putting too many homes in the "spec" market. With the housing market the way it is, these guys don't have much choice, I guess. What should sell a builder's homes is quality construction, superior customer service, and affordability.
