I saw LED light bulbs at Walmart - Walmart brand (Distributed by Walmart) and these have a 3 year warranty...
So I asked at the front desk how I could return those if they only have a 90 day return policy.
They said I would need to call the toll free number on the package, could not return them to the store. So I did that twice. Each time I called, it said I could not be connected and would need to call the toll free number again!
I also looked at their web site as suggested on the LED bulb package. I clicked on "Returns Policy" several times (at the bottom of the main page) and got nothing but the word "Help"! Can't click on that.
I guess I will not be buying LED light bulbs at Walmart!
Note in another thread, I discussed Home Depot, and they have a satisfactory return policy for LED light bulbs. Here is that thread...
Virtually all warranties require that you deal with the original manufacturer. A return policy is for products that do not work right out of the box or fail very shortly thereafter.
Now if the manufacturer does not respond...then you have a cause for complaint.
These are cases where the *store* itself is listed as the "distributor" (manufacturer). No other names on the package! So it is Walmart you will need to call or go to in this case. And the store says 90 days only - call the toll free number on the package (Walmart). And they are not answering!
(I'm checking this out before I spend a fortune on those new LED lights. I had problems with the compact fluorescents when they first came out...)
Good to know. I went to buy LED bulbs at Walmart, but the shelf was empty of the ones I wanted. So now I won't get screwed trying to return faulty bulbs.
Costco has much higher quality LEDs for probably the same price or similar.
See what it says on the package so far as warranty and what you have to do to return them. (I don't shop at Costco, but I'm sure many other people here do.)
I’ve always had excellent experiences when returning items to Costco. It’s a no hassle return no matter how many months or years have gone by. Normally I keep all of my receipts however one item that I returned I didn’t have it and they looked it up on their computer system and knew I bought it several years ago. No questions asked if I didn’t like, it could be returned. Come to think of it, it was light a decorative light bulb that I never used and was returning. It was still in the same packaging so they credited my account. I ended up buying the LED bulbs from them about a week later…….
How do you know Costco's LEDs are much higher quality than Walmart's?? Do you know of a test?
Yes, the bulbs are tested and receive scores.
