My ex spilled a lot of soy sauce on the white laminate counter top, and now there is a faint brown stain. I've tried straight bleach, cleaner with bleach, and scouring cleanser - none have worked.

Anyone have any ideas? This stain seems to be soaked right in!

Barkeeper's Friend - best stain remover I've ever seen and non-scratching.

Try using Bon-ami powder (cleanser) mixed with peroxide to make a paste and place it on the stain, after letting it sit see if that removes it. You might have to do it again.

I used a bleach spray on my counters once and it brought up a stain that wasn't there so I called the manufacturer and that is what they told me to use and it worked.

Barkeeper's Friend works better and you don't have to mix anything with it. - already has some sort of bleaching agent in it

Thanks, all. Will start with BKF, and then switch if it doesn't work.

ehhh...Well the stain is probably etched into the surface from the acid in the soy sauce and you ground it in with the scrubby stuff. Eek...hope not.

Have you tried oxy-powder? (laundry stuff)
Lemon juice + salt?

I would seal the countertop with something after all this to help prevent future stains. (minwax)

I have to do mine in minwax as its drinking in the stains too.
Good luck!

Is minwax food safe? Don't put any sealer on a kitchen counter that isn't food safe - there's just too much contact with food.

The BF is not scratchy. I think it has the laundry stuff in it. Letting it sit helps with stains.
