Tub surround - tile vs plactic/fiberglass

My surround is easy to clean and still looks new, after 21 years.

Reminds me of a neighbor who was so proud of her rust and brown colored shag carpet, that was 25 years old.
And she said, "look at this carpet still looks new. You'd never know we've raised five kids on it."

I thought -- "Uh, not really. It looks old and dated, but you clearly can't see it you've lived with it for so long."
I said -- "Oh yes, you're right"

It does still look new. I never said anything about it not looking dated. That can be fixed when it's time to replace, which isn't when it becomes dated. It's when it needs to be.

May I offer a third alternative? I have faux marble composite (its the same thing as my vanity top is made out of) in one of my showers, and I LOVE it. It spans each of the three walls without a seam, it wipes off with a bit of windex, it doesn't seem to collect either soap film or mildew. If I ever have the opportunity to choose a material again, I will get this stuff.
