It's an open chimney.

1. Liner missing from top 2 feet of chimney.
2. Missing a divider between the two flues. They were gonna use something called Smoktite.

I was thinking of using a wood stove instead as I heard it is more efficient. These use an "insert" (hose type thing), right? Would that mean I would be able to hook it up and not have to worry about the liner/flue divider issue?

Thanks.

Laws on this will vary among jurisdictions.

Talk to your friendly local chimney builder and/or fire department.
